For those clients that I refer for psychiatric consultation for possible prescription medication please know that I do so extremely conscientiously. I am a believer that prescription medication undoubtedly has positive and beneficial effects in the program of working through mental health issues, I am also a firm believer that the discipline of daily exercise and limiting cell phone usage is equally critical. Prescription medication for mental health can be an integral component of good mental health but it in no way can be expected to be a cure all.
Peer-reviewed research supports the importance of daily (or 150 minutes weekly) of cardio-intensive exercise can do as much for good mental health as the right prescription medication. So that being said, if a client ever wants to do a session while running or briskly walking please know that I can arrange this. I have found strong positive results in a lifetime of this practice personally and am always thrilled if I meet someone else with like-minded goals. Thanks.
